Details
The third of our new series of meetings, hosted by the New York Society for Ethical Culture. The general theme for the first four meetings will be ethics and moral theory. This third discussion will ask us to consider why the decision to be a stay-at-home parent is so controversial. Are people who make that choice more virtuous than people who sacrifice their children to the altar of the workplace? Or are they wasting their lives and shrinking their brains talking baby talk all day long?
Suggested background reading, in the form of an article by Jean Kazez in The Philosopher's Magazine is available at our files section.
After the actual meeting, some of us will gather at a local watering hole for more informal chatting abut life, the universe and everything...
