Meeting Description

Organized by

Juan Bernal

Details

We meet once a month to discuss philosophy: what it is; the various ways it is and might be done; how you are doing it; and what difference it makes. The discussion can be focused on a topic or free flowing, and is open to all levels of experience.

For the February 15, 2008 Meetup, we shall discuss of the subject of progress. Andrew will introduce the topic. In what sense can we say there has been progress and in what ways not? Here consider the question of progress in the context of the social, political, scientific, technological and moral changes that have occurred in history and continue to occur today. Can we confidently claim this adds up to significant progress?
We invite participants to join us on February 15 and bring your questions and comments on the issue of social, scientific, technological, political and moral progress.

"Lively discussion in which everyone got the chance to express his ideas on the issue of progress. "

  • Joel but you can call me Joe
"Here is the bio of the group about Ken Wilber's growing body of work in the field of consciousness. Many people have been put off not knowing where to start with his many works. Others say he is too much work, too hard. This group's aim is to make Wilber's work accessible, exciting and fun. We start off with his A BRIEF HISTORY OF EVERYTHING. (Modest he isn't)..... This might be of some interest for a future meeting or perhaps a joint meeting. The fellow who ran the group in Burbank seemed singularly well informed and willing to share his knowledge (However we define it ! :->)"
