"More people need to attend."

Chris Bobo (Apr 19, 2008)

"I really like this Meetup Group. Who knew there were so many people in O.C. who gave a darn about philosophy, and that some of them actually had a pretty decent idea of what they were talking about?"

Andrew (Apr 19, 2008)

"Nice group, good variety of people. The spirit of the group is steady and exiting. It is a pleasure participating in the discussions and listening to different point of views of the themes discussed."

alberto verdeja (Apr 18, 2008)

"A well rounded group with varying backgrounds and points of view."

John (Mar 22, 2008)

"Happy to meet again at anytime that I am able to visit. Thanks for the welcoming and friendly attitude....even to an alien !"

Joel but you can call me Joe (Feb 16, 2008)

"I enjoy the time together. I appreciate all of the references to books, etc. I look forward to learning more about what I and everyone else thinks, values, believes and appreciates (i.e. how we change what we think)"

Robert Bowles (Sep 26, 2007)

"It was an interesting night even though I was an 1 1/2 hours late. I also don't know anything about philosophy, but I still was allowed to say something. I think I need to get a philosophy book and read up to deal with this subject. I will be coming back but it is a bit far for me because I live in L.A. county, and this group is in O.C. which is 2 hours away, but this group is worth the drive."

barbie doll (May 19, 2007)

"Nice to know there are others out there with a philosophical bent. I also found the group had diverse interests which is is also nice. "

About this Meetup

"But if philosophy is thought in search of ultimate comprehension, what does it do? What is the practice that ultimate thinking engages in? If philosophy looks eventually toward the timeless and eternal, it nevertheless exists in time and has an historical role to play. What is that role?

Can it be perhaps, the practical work of philosophy is directed toward the future?... Is the function of philosophy, in a word, inauguration?"
